1 Safe service of the slipring assembly
The slipring assembly of STEMMANN-TECHNIK GmbH is designed according
to the state of the art and the approved safety regulations,Nevertheless danger
can result for life and limb of the operator or third person by its usage,as well
as damage of the device,other material assets or the environment,
Therefore install the slipring assembly only in technical soundness as well as
according to regulations,safety- and danger-consciously and under
observance of the manual!
Immediately repair particular failures which can affect the safety,
Please complete the operation instructions with instructions due to existing
national regulations for accident prevention and environmental protection,
2 Marking of the safety notes
In the operation instructions the following denominations and symbols for safety
notes are used,
Attention!
Notes which can lead to perilous injuries and to damages in case these
notes are only improperly or not at all observed,
Important notes in which a specialty is marked and/or an information
regarding use is given,
Notes regarding operation during disassembly and installation,
Inspection notes and instructions which shall be attended for a safe
operation,

The slipring assembly is solely used for transmission of electrical powers and
data,
Others than the above described uses are regarded as not normal,For
damages which result from not normal use Stemmann-Technik GmbH will not
take over any responsibility,This is the sole risk of the user,
Part of the normal use are also observance of the operation instructions and
compliance with the inspection- and maintenance conditions,
4 Reconstructions and modifications
You may not effect any changes,reconstructions or modifications at the slipring
assembly with prior approval by STEMMANN-TECHNIK GmbH,
If reconstructions or modifications are effected at the slipring assembly without
an approval of STEMMANN-TECHNIK the warranty expires,
5 Spare parts
You may only use original Stemmann-Technik spare parts resp,spare parts
recommended by Stemmann-Technik as Stemmann-Technik will not take over
responsibility for damages resulting from use of foreign spare parts,
6 Selection and qualification of personnel
Please observe the following requirements to the personnel allowed to work at
the slipring assembly,
Only employ reliable personnel!
Observe legally approved minimum age!
Only employ skilled and instructed personnel!
Clearly define responsibilities of the personnel for mounting,installation
and maintenance!
Make sure that only personnel authorised for this purpose is working
on the device!

Attention!
Works at the slipring assembly may only be effected by the corresponding
skilled personnel who are authorised to effect installations and repairs at
electrical systems,
All skilled personnel must be capable of assessing the works,of recognizing
possible dangers and avoiding these dangers,and they have to have sufficient
experiences and knowledge about,
safety prescriptions and health regulations
accident prevention prescriptions
guidelines and approved regulations of technology
6.2 Personnel for transport and storage
Transport and storage may only be effected by skilled employees and
instructed persons who have been informed about,and if necessary trained for,
the works to be effected and the possible dangers occurring at improper
behaviour,
7 Being aware of safety while working
The system may only be used in technically perfect condition as well as for
intended application,aware of safety and dangers,and under observation of
the operation instructions! All impairments and especially those which may
affect the safety have to be remedied immediately!
Each person ordered to installation,commissioning,operation or maintenance
must have completely read and understood this operation instruction –
especially the subjects regarding safety,Reading the instructions while working
will be too late,To a special extent this is valid for personnel only working
occasionally with the system,
The relevant accident-prevention-prescriptions as well as the other generally
approved safety-related and medical regulations have to be observed,

on a flange plug with central screwing,type plug no,12 (RC-
12P1N126000),The wiring is led on with a cable LIYCY 8x0.14 mm2
(colour coding acc,to DIN47100),The cable is prepared with a cable

10 Arrangement of the slipring assembly
10.1 Slip assembly
The slipring assembly is made in cast version,With this version brass
rings are cast in epoxy resin and then are mechanically worked
subsequently,
The surface is hard-gold plated,

10.2 Brush apparatus
The current collectors are made of CuBe-springs,The welded on contact
point is effected as gold spring-wire,In the area of the board the contact
spring is gold-plated,The contact pressure is adjusted by means of the
determined bending angle,The individual brushes are locked in the
boards,

10.3 Admissible loads
The max,possible voltage which is admissible for the respective
transmission ways,depends on the air- and creepage distances at the
slip assembly and the brush block,
The max,possible current per way depends on the wiring cross sections
to the terminals and the number of gold-spring wires,
Per pair of brushes a max,current of 5 A can be transmitted,
10.4 Applications
Due to the compact design a large number of transmission ways is
realised within smallest possible space,
This version of slipring assembly can be used up to a relative speed of
0.5 m/s,

11 Maintenance
The slip assembly is designed for a service life of approx,15,000 km,
Due to the encapsulation of the slip assembly the necessary
maintenance effort is low,
A visual check should be effected in intervals of approx,12 months,
11.1 Opening the housing
Attention! Danger to life!
Prior to opening the slipring assembly housing the device has to be
disconnected and secured against unauthorised re-connection,
? Unbolting the slipring assembly housing
At the housing front side there are 6 cyl,screws M5x12 DIN912,
After loosening the screws the housing can be pulled backwards,
The slip assembly and the brush blocks are now accessible,
? The slip assembly has to be wetted with contact oil,If there is no oil
film the slipring has to be carefully cleaned with a lint-free cloth and
then to be sprayed with contact oil,The complete slipring should be
wetted with oil so that there are drops forming at the brushes,It is
recommended to use ELECTROLUBE KONTAKTREINIGUNGS?L
EML 200F (Electrolube contact cleaning oil EML 200F),
Attention! Damage to the device!
It has to be watched that there are no lints or rough dirt particles inside the
housing,on the grinding traces or at the brushes,Dirt can lead to a lifting of

the brushes,By this interruptions during transmission up to brushes
catching fire and thus the destruction of the slipring assembly are caused,
? Broken or blue-blushed brushes have to be replaced,
To do this the individual brushes can be removed from the brush
block and replaced by new ones,
ABB-08 Brush and brush block
? If there are damages on the board this can be replaced
completely,For this please loosen the cables in the terminals,
The board then can be unbolted,The new board has to be
equipped with brushes and then has to be aligned in such a way
that the brushes are centring in the grooves of the track,The
bolts then have to be secured with Loctite and to be tightened
with 7 Nm,

After replacement of brushes or boards the slipring assembly has to be
cleaned and re-oiled,
11.2 Closing the housing
Attention! Damage to the device!
When closing the housing it has to be observed that there are no foreign
substances inside the device and that no cores are pinched by the housing,
The sealings at the housing have to be checked and if necessary to be
replaced,
