Passage one Be True to Yourself
We all want to be happy,We do the things we do because we believe they
will make us happy,Problems arise when we don’t live authentic lives,We
spend so much time striving to put the pieces of our lives into place—
looking for the perfect job,the perfect relationship, the perfect home, trying
to be the perfect parent—that we often find ourselves completely lost in our
carefully crafted lifestyle rather than living a life that represents who we truly
are,
Our reason for existence is to live a purposeful life, and it starts with having
a meaningful connection with ourselves,When we understand who we are
and why we are here, everything seems to fall into place,But when we
disconnect from our essence, give away our personal power and let
material possessions determine our priorities,we forfeit our vitality and lose
touch with our soul,We seek approval from others, and we become a
stranger to ourselves and our innermost desires,Even if we feel excitement
in our quest to acquire things, once we get them,we find them ephemeral
and unfulfilling,Be honest—how often do we say to ourselves,―There must
be more to life.‖
Like so many of us,I,too, was at a crossroads, looking for answers,
direction, inspiration—anything that could explain the chaos of my daily
life,I wanted to know why my challenges never end,why I struggle for
balance, why I have disharmony in my relationships, what would make
me a better parent, how to practice good health,But most importantly,I
wanted to discover a path to lasting happiness,
In 2002 I quit my corporate job,which was draining my energy,and I
took some time off to think about what I wanted to do,I am blessed with
a wonderful husband who supported me in my search,
I knew that I had to create,I have an MBA and had been working in
consumer marketing for more than a decade,I wanted to apply my skills
toward a product that could directly affect people’s lives in a positive
and meaningful way,I also knew that I needed the freedom to express
my own vision,my own passion and, most importantly,I wanted to
continue to grow spiritually,
? After a year of searching,in December,2003,I
launched my product,my own radio show,True to
Yourself Radio has all the features I had envisioned,
inspiration,wisdom,hope,possibilities,solutions and
support for those who are seeking life-changing growth,
My mission is to empower the mind, lift the spirit,
support the body and honor the earth,Every week,I
explore a variety of topics relating to our happiness,
personal growth,spiritual awakening,health,
relationships and overall well-being,I like to think of the
show as a guiding light for the human heart,
? I feel fortunate that highly regarded experts from all
walks of life have consented to be on my show,Some of
these include world-renowned authors such as Depak
Chopra,Caroline Myss,Maryanne Williamson,Andrew
Weil,Wayne Dyer and others who have chosen to
dedicate their life work to helping others,As we listen
to their stories, life discoveries and wisdom,we open our
mind to new possibilities and personal transformation,
We all have challenges, but our individual response to them
determines our well-being,As I produce and host True to
Yourself Radio,I,too, face many challenges,At this time it is
one-woman show,I do everything from producing to hosting,
from radio sales to promotion and marketing, from business
operations to delivering an inspiring show every week,I am also a
mother and primary caregiver of three little children (my
husband travels a lot),And as I try to juggle it all,I count my
blessings,It doesn’t matter that I am burning the midnight oil
at my computer or reading late into the night the most current
books of guests who will appear on upcoming shows,What
matters most is that I am at home with my true nature,Every
day I follow my heart’s desire and live my Truth,My new
lifestyle allows me to unleash my creativity, evolve in my own
personal growth and fulfill my dreams,
Remember, you alone are responsible for your life,Every day is
your time, your moment, and your reason for being,Take it as
the gift it is; it will fill you up and lead you to joy,I hope you will
join me,and together we will explore life’s possibilities,
Passage two
Why do some people morph into something they are not to
please others? This type of personality is one that really
confuses me.........,It is like a chameleon,or a magician who can
be in one place and another at the same time,I am still
wondering, are you being true to yourself or are you trying to
please everyone that is around you? What truly makes you
happy? What are you really thinking? Can I trust you opinion?
I follow your steps and notice that you are not as you seem,
You have fooled me to believe that you are this way, when I
backtrack and look around,I see that you have now faded into
another personality.......,
Oh! You see that I notice so there you are again! Your colors going from
green to red to blue, you are confusing me,This is the type of person
that I can't associate with,I love honest and open and genuine people,
people that wear their heart on their sleeve.....whether that heart be
the color of hate,or the glowing colors of love,If you are full of hate
in your heart then let it show, let the darkness out,And if you have
love then let that flow as a river for we only have one life to live,What
is in my heart? It is a mixture of every emotion and feelings,But I will
not constantly try to please others for the sake of getting noticed and
loved,I wish for everyone to be their self...............,it is ok to be
discouraged! It is ok to be depressed! It is ok to be exuberant and
exploding with happiness.......,It is ok to be scared, wondering what the
future holds for you! Just let your feelings out,Have faith that the
universe will not kick you out in the cold if you are completely true to
yourself,This will make the world so interesting to have all the
different personalities existing together in a daily dance of human
nature,
How To Stay True to Yourself Above the Opinionated ROAR of Others!
How do you stay true to yourself when you’re surrounded by friends and/or family
that have an opinion on EVERYTHING you do? Who constantly offer their opinion,
whether you asked for it or not? Who seem to imply they ―know better‖?
It’s not easy! However,if you’re going to lead the life YOU really want, you’re bound
to run into a few folks who just won’t (or can’t) understand where you’re coming
from,Don’t let their strong opinions guide your choices,Stay true to yourself by
tuning out the naysayers and tuning into the only opinion that really matters – your
own,These tips will help,
1,Value your SELF and your CHOICES,When you do,others will too,OWN the
choices you make in your life,When you doubt yourself, others will doubt you,When
you believe in yourself,in time, others will believe in you too,
2,Realize,opinions are more about the person giving them then they are about you,
Remember each person sees the world only as they can see it,This doesn’t mean
they are right, better,or smarter than you,They are simply different, have a
different set of values, beliefs and life experiences,Their opinions may be valid,or
invalid,Ultimately,it’s up to you to decide how outside opinions fit your life,
4,Know yourself,Be willing to deepen your sense of self,Create a
personal philosophy for living,Know your values and what you care
about most,Doing so will increase your confidence and how people look
at you,
5,Set boundaries,Some people just go too far,Sometimes it’s OK to
respectfully listen but it’s also OK to set boundaries for areas of your
life that are off limits,
3,Take time off,Too many people telling you what they think? Take
time for yourself,To hear the whispers of your heart you have to be
quiet and listen closely,You can’t hear what your heart wants YOU to
hear if you drown it out by giving others too much ―air‖ time in your
life,
6,Stand by YOUR side,Others may not be there for
you when you most need them so you have to be
there for yourself,Trust yourself and be willing to
stand up for what you believe in,
The point is,nobody can guide you better than you
can guide yourself,Listening to and learning from
others has immeasurable value, but ultimately your
decisions are yours alone,Realize the naysayers,or
those with strong opinions, are fearful of life in
their own way,for their own reasons,Learn to
decipher the difference between opinions you should
consider and those you should let go of,
