Western style of eating is considered to have largely influenced Eastern countries. But even Western countries themselves differ in this respect. People in these countries do not use the knife and fork in the same way. There are also differences in drinking customs. And naturally table manners have seen many changes throughout history, from ancient times, through the Middle Ages, to the 17th century.
