the past; but now more and more hotels have
realized its importance,owing to the following 2
factors:
? 1,the trend to chain operation has swallowed up
many of the independent hotels,and a chain
operation can well afford personnel specialists
because the cost can be distributed across
many hotels.
? 2,the main management problems in lodging
industry mainly center around the employees
and the personnel function,
Duties of the personnel department
? 1.recruitment,selection,and placement

? i,recruitment ---to know the labor market
and design a program to attract qualified
employees to the hotel.
? Ii,Selection---to Operate a selection
program to select the best-qualified,stable,
long-service employees.
? Iii,Placement---matching people with jobs.

employee’s motivation so as to increase
productivity in the hotel.
? 3,conduct job evaluation studies and wage
surveys so as to determine its employee’s
wages/ salaries,fringe benefits (附加福利),and

? 4,provide training programs together with other
departments---training should be at every level
from semiskilled to supervisory.
